Laurie Baker Series (Tamil)

We began an initiative to teach architecture in Tamil, an Indian classical language, to make the subject accessible to ordinary people. Until then, most content on architecture was written in English for professionals and felt distant and elite.

During the pandemic in 2021, we collaborated with seven architects and writers to translate nine English books by Pritzker Prize nominee Laurie Baker. The collection was launched to bring his ideas to a broader audience.

Each cover was illustrated in a simple vector style with vibrant colours to feel egalitarian and appealing to school-going children. The books were numbered and designed with a consistent language to encourage people to collect the complete set.
